Tagum City โ Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) Chairperson Secretary Leo Tereso Magno highlighted the regionโs accelerating transformation during the 34th Mindanao Business Conference (MinBizCon), citing strategic partnerships, infrastructure breakthroughs, and policy reforms as key drivers.
Delivering the keynote address, Magno emphasized that Mindanaoโs development is no longer a distant aspiration but a tangible reality. He pointed to major infrastructure projects, enhanced digital connectivity, and expanded public services as evidence of progress already underway. These include climate-resilient farm-to-market roads, upgraded healthcare facilities, and the regionโs longest flyoverโprojects that reflect the growing synergy between national agencies, local governments, and private sector stakeholders.
Magno also highlighted the role of national reforms in boosting investor confidence. Executive Order No. 18, the CREATE MORE Act, and the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Code have introduced streamlined processes and clearer incentives for strategic investments. These measures are helping unlock long-delayed projects and attract new ventures across key sectors.
Under the current administration, Mindanao has seen renewed momentum in infrastructure development and agricultural modernization. Partnerships with telecommunications firms have expanded digital access, while cacao and coffee producers now benefit from post-harvest facilities that reduce losses and improve market value.
Magnoโs keynote aligned with the conference theme, โFostering Innovation and Sustainability Towards Global Mindanao,โ and reaffirmed MinDAโs commitment to positioning the region as a hub for agriculture, trade, and innovation. His message called for continued collaboration among business leaders, local governments, and development partners to bring forward bankable projects and ensure Mindanaoโs central role in national progress.
