We are looking for Laboratory Technician
Key Responsibilities:
Performing Geotechnical Tests:
-Conduct routine laboratory tests on soil, rock, and other geotechnical materials, such as:
Sample Preparation and Handling:
-Collect, prepare, and store samples of soil and rock in accordance with industry standards.
-Prepare samples for testing, including drying, sieving, and mixing to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Maintaining Equipment and Apparatus:
-Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as compaction machines, triaxial apparatus, soil test sieves, and moisture content ovens.
-Perform regular calibration and maintenance of equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
-Troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions and report more significant issues to supervisors.
Data Collection and Analysis:
-Record test results accurately, ensuring they are documented in a clear and organized manner.
-Perform initial analysis of test data and ensure results are within acceptable parameters.
-Assist in preparing reports and ensuring all data is properly stored for future reference.
Quality Control:
-Follow established testing procedures and quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data.
-Participate in the review of results and flag any inconsistencies or issues with the testing process.
-Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry guidelines (e.g., ASTM, AASHTO, ISO).
Health and Safety:
-Adhere to health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
-Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols when handling hazardous materials and equipment.
-Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the laboratory.
Report Preparation and Communication:
-Help prepare test reports and summaries that outline the results and any recommendations for engineers or clients.
-Communicate test results to laboratory supervisors or geotechnical engineers for further interpretation and decision-making.
Inventory Management:
-Monitor laboratory supplies, including testing materials, consumables, and chemicals.
-Notify supervisors when inventory levels are low or when new materials or equipment are needed.
