The Philippine Mining Club takes a different approach to its September luncheon, bringing together presentations, industry perspectives, and an extended conversation on one of mining’s most important responsibilities: managing the full life cycle of a mine.

The program will run in two sessions. The morning will feature three sponsored presentations, followed by a panel discussion. After lunch, the conversation continues with an open dialogue and Q&A focused on;

“Managing Mine Life Cycles: Best Practices in Progressive Rehabilitation, Post-Mining Transitions, and Responsible Closure Frameworks.”

Joining the discussion are experts from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau, FCF Minerals Corporation, and TVI Resource Development / Agatha Mining Ventures, Inc.

More than a luncheon, this is an opportunity to hear different viewpoints, raise questions, exchange practical insights, and take part in a meaningful discussion on responsible mine closure and post-mining transition.

Mr. Joey Nelson Ayson, President of Philippine Mining and Exploration Association will host and moderate the event.

From restored land to fresh harvests, the TVIRD Group shows the possibilities of progressive rehabilitation

Mining and agriculture rarely share the same conversation. One follows the geology beneath the ground; the other follows the seasons above it. One works with extraction, while the other depends on cultivation. Yet across TVIRD, these seemingly separate worlds meet in places where rehabilitated land is being put to productive use.

At the company’s Agata and Balabag sites, areas dedicated to rehabilitation and agricultural development are producing fruits, vegetables, root crops, and spices alongside mining operations. As harvest season takes center stage, these crops offer a glimpse into how environmental rehabilitation can create opportunities for another kind of productivity. It is also a proof of concept – that mining and agriculture can go hand in hand and actually complement and support each other.

Field of Dreams: A Father’s Sacrifice and a Son’s Future

For every graduation cap thrown into the air, there is often a story of sacrifice and quiet determination behind it. For farmer Richard Dillera, 51, his eldest son’s graduation is more than a celebration—it is a culmination of years of hard work and a dream nurtured through hardship.

Richard has spent much of his life working the land to provide for his family. Like many rice farmers of Barangay Dipili in Bayog Municipality, he understands the challenges of making ends meet while ensuring that his child will have opportunities he may not have had. Yet despite the financial demands of everyday life, he remained committed to giving Charlie a better future through education.

For Charlie, there was his father who toiled in the fields so he could pursue his studies. There was his family that held on to hope. And there was support from TVIRD whose scholarship program helped make the journey a little easier.

Greenstone Resources Corporation (GRC) once again demonstrated its proficiency in safety and emergency preparedness when its Emergency Response Team (ERT) successfully defended its title as Overall Champion during the 2026 Governor’s Rescuelympics in Surigao del Norte – making history as the competition’s first back-to-back champion. The victory follows Greenstone’s championship debut last year and reaffirms its leadership in the region.

Throughout the competition, the Greenstone team delivered an outstanding performance, leading in the Ultimate Rescue Challenge, Community Fire Buster, Blazing Tactics, and Hose Management Relay. The team also received recognitions for its unified strategy: the Most Organized Team, Best Team Dynamics, and Most Competitive Team special awards – further highlighting the discipline that has become synonymous with Greenstone’s safety culture.

Greenstone’s consecutive victories are underscored by its sustained investment in regular rescue simulations, firefighting drills, specialized technical rescue training, and competency enhancement programs. These ensure that the company’s ERT remains in shape and adequately equipped to respond effectively to emergencies within its operations and host communities.
