Japan Airlines has launched a bold tourism incentive aimed at spreading international visitor traffic beyond major hubs like Tokyo and Kyoto.
Under the program, international travelers who book a Japan Airlines flight into the country can add complimentary domestic flights to any of JAL's 64 destinations across Japan - from the snowy landscapes of Hokkaido to the beaches of Okinawa - at no extra airfare cost, with only small taxes or stopover fees in certain cases.
The initiative is part of a national push to ease overtourism in crowded cities and encourage exploration of lesser-known regions that often get overlooked despite Japan's record-high visitor numbers.
By making it easier and more affordable to travel internally, Japan hopes to boost regional economies and showcase cultural, natural, and historical gems beyond the usual tourist hotspots.
