December 21, 2023 - In a significant step towards community empowerment, the DOLE Misamis Oriental Provincial Field Office, in collaboration with the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB Northern Mindanao), extended a helping hand to the San Roque Handmade Paper Products Multipurpose Cooperative (MPC). The cooperative, led by Chairwoman Ms. Emma Salvaรฑa, and its members, were granted Php 40,000.00 worth of assistance for a Rice Trading Project.
The ceremonial turnover of the assistance took place at the DOLE-X Activity Area, 5th Floor, Trinidad Building, Cagayan de Oro City, where the RTWPB Northern Mindanao Representative, Atty. Gretchen Lamayan, Regional BWSC Supervising LEO Mr. James Busa, and DOLE-X Misamis Oriental Provincial Field Office DILP Focal Ms. Akisa Boriongan, were present to witness the event.
The financial aid comes as a result of the cooperative's successful completion of the 7'S training program facilitated by RTWPB. This program, aimed at enhancing the skills and productivity of organized groups, proved to be instrumental in preparing the San Roque Handmade Paper Products MPC for their venture into rice trading.
Expressing her satisfaction with the outcome of the training, Atty. Gretchen Lamayan stated, "The 7'S training is designed to empower local enterprises, and the success of San Roque Handmade Paper Products MPC is a testament to the effectiveness of such programs in fostering sustainable livelihoods."
The Rice Trading Project Assistance is expected to contribute significantly to the cooperative's economic sustainability, enabling them to expand their reach and impact within the community. The DOLE and RTWPB representatives emphasized the importance of supporting local initiatives that not only create economic opportunities but also preserve and promote indigenous crafts.
Ms. Emma Salvana, Chairwoman of San Roque Handmade Paper Products MPC, expressed her gratitude, saying, "This assistance will not only benefit our cooperative but will also contribute to the economic development of our community. We are committed to making the most of this opportunity and ensuring the success of the Rice Trading Project."
The event concluded with a hopeful outlook for the cooperative's future endeavors, as the collaboration between DOLE, RTWPB, and local organizations continues to pave the way for sustainable growth and development in the region.
