The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) posted a gross collection of P422.378 billion in April 2026, exceeding the month’s goal by P12.776 billion or 3.12%. Based on preliminary data as of May 13, 2026, last month’s gross revenues likewise grew by P551.11 million or 0.13% compared to the same month last year.

This strong April performance came even with the moved deadline for filing the 2025 Annual Income Tax Returns (AITR), which President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. ordered to give taxpayers more time to file properly and submit the required documents without penalties.

BIR Commissioner Charlito Martin R. Mendoza attributes the strong collection performance to the intensified tax campaign efforts of the National Office, Revenue Regions, Revenue District Offices, and the Large Taxpayer Service in the past months, which helped encourage early and voluntary compliance.

‘GENUINE KINDNESS IS NEVER FORGOTTEN’ 🥹💗

This lawyer shared a heartwarming moment as she received a token of gratitude from her farmer client, whom she helped pro bono five years ago.

Atty. Princess Kimberly Ubay-ubay from Alubijid, Misamis Oriental expressed appreciation for her former client for always sending her a sack of red rice.

“I got this from my client who engaged my services five years ago. She’s a farmer from my hometown. Since I took on her case pro bono, she promised to return the favor every harvest niya. I didn’t ask, but she insisted. She happily does until now,” she told The Philippine STAR.

Every harvest season, her client would send a sack of red rice as her way of thanking Atty. Ubay-ubay.

“Na-mention niya kasi na mas healthy ‘yung red rice at ito ‘yung tinatamin niya and gusto niya ‘yung product niya kainin ko. I felt happy when I got my first sack of rice kasi hindi ko rin talaga inexpect. It’s fulfilling to receive something, regardless of value, from happy and grateful clients,” she added.

𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗨𝗔𝗟 𝗜𝗡𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗘 𝗧𝗔𝗫 𝗥𝗘𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗡 𝗗𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗢 𝗠𝗔𝗬 𝟭𝟱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has issued Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 30-2026, extending the deadline to May 15, 2026 for the filing of 2025 Annual Income Tax Returns, payment of the corresponding taxes due thereon, and submission of required attachments.

“In line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., this extension is meant to make tax compliance easier for taxpayers at a time when many are managing added strain from the ongoing energy crisis,” Commissioner Charlito Martin R. Mendoza said.

Taxpayers may file through the BIR’s electronic filing platforms and pay electronically through available payment platforms, or manually through the nearest Authorized Agent Banks.
