Unless applying under the Student Direct Stream, most study permits don't have language test requirements. There are currently no online language tests that are acceptable for immigration purposes. Duolingo is not acceptable.

International students: post-graduation work permit eligibility WON’T be affected if your Fall 2020 courses will be online due to . Students can begin programs online from outside Canada and complete up to 50% of them from outside Canada.

In addition, students will not have time deducted from the length of a future post-graduation work permit for studies completed outside of Canada, up to December 31, 2020.

Today, Minister Mendicino announced the interpretation of “parent” for applications of citizenship by descent has now been modified to include legal parents at birth, as well as biological parentage.

With the new interpretation of “parent,” both biological and non-biological Canadian parents who are recognized as their child’s legal parent at birth can now equally pass down Canadian citizenship to their children born abroad in the first generation.

This new interpretation will be helpful in cases where children are born abroad to parents who have relied on assisted human reproduction to build their families, in particular, members of the LGBTQ2+ community and Canadians with fertility issues.
