Sustainable Development: Understanding Its Importance
Sustainable development is a concept that gained global recognition through the Brundtland Report (1987), which defined it as development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It is founded on the balanced integration of three core dimensions: economic growth, social equity, and environmental protection.
In the twenty-first century, sustainable development has emerged as a central concern for policymakers, researchers, and practitioners worldwide. Global challenges such as climate change, poverty, inequality, resource depletion, and environmental degradation have highlighted the urgent need for informed and responsible action. Consequently, enhancing public understanding and literacy regarding sustainable development has become essential for building resilient, inclusive, and sustainable societies.
To contribute to this objective, MSSF is launching an educational dialogue aimed at promoting awareness and understanding of sustainable development principles, challenges, and solutions.
Through a series of short educational videos presented in multiple languages, complex concepts will be communicated in an accessible and engaging manner to diverse audiences.
