The Sufi Council strongly condemns the cowardly assassination attempt on Pir Syed Imam Ali Jilani in Islamabad yesterday. This heinous act of violence is an attack not only on an individual but on the values of peace, tolerance, and spiritual harmony that Pir Syed Imam Ali Jilani represents.

We demand that the Government of Pakistan ensure a transparent and swift investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice with the highest punishment under the law. Acts of terrorism must not be allowed to go unattended or unpunished, as silence or delay only emboldens those who seek to spread fear and chaos.

The Sufi Council stands in solidarity with Pir Syed Imam Ali Jilani and his family, and we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to peace, unity, and the protection of religious and spiritual leaders across the country.

The Sufi Council strongly condemns the demolition of the shrine of Hazrat Syed Masoom Shah Miya in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, India. This shrine was not only a place of spiritual significance but also part of the shared Sufi heritage that has long promoted peace, tolerance, and interfaith harmony in the region.

Such actions reflect a worrying trend of erasing sacred sites tied to centuries of spiritual and cultural history. The demolition of this mazaar is an attack on Sufi heritage and an affront to the values of religious coexistence and respect.

We call upon the Indian authorities to ensure the protection of all Sufi sites and to uphold the principles of cultural and religious freedom.
