Before you spend another pound or dollar on ads
Check if your Google Business Profile has these 8 things. Most swimming pool renovation businesses are missing at least 4.
Here is the checklist:
1: Business name matches your signage exactly No extra keywords stuffed in. No variations. Exactly as it appears on your invoices and your front door. Inconsistency confuses Google and hurts rankings.
2: Primary and secondary categories are set correctly Primary: "Swimming pool contractor" or "Pool renovation service." Secondary: add every relevant category. More categories = more searches you appear for.
3: Service area is defined clearly If you travel to customers, your service area should list every city or postcode region you work in. Google uses this to decide when to show you.
4: Services section is fully filled in Every service you offer pool resurfacing, pool tiling, pool plastering, pool equipment upgrades isted individually with descriptions. Each one is a potential search match.
5: Business hours are accurate and updated Including holiday hours. Google penalises businesses with incorrect hours because it damages user experience.
6: High-quality photos are uploaded and updated regularly Before and after shots. Work in progress. Completed pools. At minimum 10 photos. Updated every 30 days. Google rewards active profiles.
7: Google Posts are being published weekly Offers, updates, tips, project completions. One post per week minimum. This tells Google your business is active.
8: Q&A section has pre-loaded answers Go in and ask your own most common questions then answer them. "How long does a pool renovation take?" "Do you work in [city]?" These appear in search results.
If you are missing 3 or more of these you are leaving leads on the table every single day.
The good news: this is all free. It just takes a few focused hours.
