Pakistan SADC Chamber Federation Congratulates Indonesia on its 81st Independence Day! 🇮🇩🇵🇰

On behalf of the Pakistan SADC Chamber Trade Federation (PSCTF), we extend our warmest congratulations to the Government and people of the Republic of Indonesia as they celebrate their 81st Independence Day on August 17, 2026. 🎉

Under the inspiring theme of "Indonesia Berdaulat, Adil, dan Makmur" (Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia), we recognize the remarkable progress Indonesia has achieved and its growing leadership role in the region and beyond .

The excellent work by the Indonesian Consulate in Karachi and the recent high-level engagements, including President Prabowo Subianto's visit to Pakistan, have significantly reinforced our bilateral cooperation . These visits have paved the way for a more robust partnership, with both nations actively working to upgrade our trade framework to a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) by 2027 .

The upcoming 41st Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) scheduled for October 14-18 is a fantastic opportunity to further connect our business communities and explore new avenues for collaboration .

The Pakistan SADC Chamber Federation remains committed to acting as a bridge to facilitate stronger business-to-business linkages, not only with Indonesia but also with the wider ASEAN and SADC regions. We believe in the power of collaboration and look forward to deepening our engagement with our Indonesian partners to foster shared prosperity.

Selamat Hari Kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia ke-81! 🇮🇩

May the spirit of sovereignty, justice, and prosperity continue to guide Indonesia to ever-greater heights.

Earlier this year, IATA released the 2025 safety report. In 2025, commercial airlines carried approximately 5 billion passengers on 38.7 million flights, both higher than in 2024.

- The all-accident rate of 1.32 per million flights (one accident per 759,646 flights) was better than the 1.42 recorded in 2024 but slightly above the 2021-2025 five-year average of 1.27.

- There were 51 accidents in 2025 among 38.7 million flights. That is fewer than the 54 accidents among 37.9 million flights in 2024, but above the 2021-2025 five-year average of 44 accidents.

Despite these numbers, it is important to remember that flying is the safest form of long-distance travel. Accidents are extremely rare. And each one reminds us to be even more focused on continuous improvement through global standards and collaboration guided by safety data. Flying is so safe that even one accident among the nearly 40 million flights operated annually moves the global data.

Nevertheless, every accident is one too many. The goal for aviation remains zero accidents and zero fatalities.

To achieve this, airlines and stakeholders alike need to be committed to a strong safety culture, supported by robust procedures and audits.

Congratulations to the over 200 airlines who have now signed up to the Safety Leadership Charter.
