Celebrated water day with AFM team
World Water Day 2022 is centered around raising awareness for the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. It is about taking action to tackle the global water crisis by highlighting the importance of freshwater since water is vital to many aspects of life on earth and for the environment.
AFM consistently strives to contribute towards water conservation. We adopt a 3R methodology whereby we reduce, reuse and recycle any water used in our processes.
Our current initiatives have reduced water consumption by 9% by using sustainable fibers. 27% water by reusing and recovering non-contact water from wet-process machines.
And recycled 60% water by wastewater recycling.
Furthermore, to raise awareness, AFM organized an interactive session with Mr. Muhammad Imran Sabir, Deputy Director SEPA and Mr. Jahangir Asad, CEO (MECPAK) who shared their vision and way forward with our teams, focusing on the strategies adopted by the local government to protect the environment, halt water depletion and execute land recharge initiatives. This is a big step in helping us achieve our goals under the Alliance for Water Stewardship project AWS-WWF.
