The biggest promotion mistake I see high performers make:

They start positioning themselves AFTER the room has already started deciding.

By October, many names are already warm.

Some are already trusted.

Some have already been repeated three times by the right people.

And some very capable people (hopefully not YOU) are still waiting for review season to “make their case.”

That is too late.

June is when you build the language.

July to September is when proof starts moving.

October to December is when names get discussed.
