My child is scared of multiplication.

I've heard this from many parents.

The good news?

Fear usually isn't the real problem.

Many children are asked to memorize multiplication facts before they truly understand what multiplication means.

When we switched from memorizing to seeing equal groups, something changed.

Confidence replaced fear.

This story is inspired by a real classroom experience and reminds us that every child learns differently.

"I'm just not a math person."

You've probably heard a child say this.

Maybe you've even heard an adult say it.

But struggling with math doesn't mean someone isn't smart.

Children can develop mathematical skills when they have the opportunity to understand concepts, practice, make mistakes, receive feedback, and try different strategies.

That's why I believe we should move away from:

❌ "You're bad at math."

and toward:

✅ "You haven't understood it yet. Let's try another way."
