LCE organized the closing ceremony of the LCE Women Leadership Programme, supported by GIZ Pakistan and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), to mark a meaningful end to the project focused on strengthening women’s leadership within Pakistan’s textile and sustainability ecosystem.
The event was hosted by Zainab Iqbal, Associate Partnerships and Projects, LCE, and opened with a welcome note by Jazib Zahir, Director, LCE, who highlighted the importance of developing an entrepreneurial mindset and projects that operate at the intersection of academia and the industry.
This was followed by remarks from Muhammad Ubaid, Project Head, GIZ, who emphasized GIZ’s commitment to women empowerment and the importance of multi-stakeholder engagement in driving sustainable impact.
Project highlights were shared by Saba Shahid, Manager Projects and Partnerships, LCE, reflecting on the programme’s key milestones and outcomes, followed by a heartfelt participant reflection delivered by Amal Zulfiqar, Business Development Manager, BLAGLE.
The event included a panel discussion on Emerging Trends in Textile, moderated by Amna Awan, Head of Operations, LCE, brought together diverse perspectives from across academia and industry. Panelists included Nadia Shamim, Assistant Director Students Affairs, NTU Faisalabad; Dr. Fatima Wyne, Manager Business Development, MG Apparel; Saqib Shahzad, General Manager Sustainability, Diamond Fabrics Limited (Sapphire Group); and Iqra Asghar Inam, Head of Sustainability, Sapphire Textiles. The discussion highlighted the importance of collaboration between all stakeholders within the textile industry, evolving global sustainability requirements, and the critical role of women across textile supply chains.
