The friend then asked, “Wouldn't you be happier if you had more wealth, a bigger house, and more servants?” Mulla smiled and said, “A single negative thought can steal your happiness, while a single grateful thought can fill your life with joy. Our thoughts shape our world.” Hearing this, the friend realized that true happiness comes not from what we own, but from how we think and what we appreciate.

One day, an Emperor sent a grand dinner invitation to Mulla Nasruddin. Wanting to show respect, Mulla arrived at the palace much earlier than the dinner time. When the Emperor saw him, he smiled and asked, “Mulla, why have you come so early? The dinner is not ready yet!” Everyone in the court laughed, waiting to hear Mulla’s reply.
Mulla Nasruddin politely bowed and said, “Your Majesty, since you were kind enough to send the invitation early, I thought I should be kind enough to arrive early too!” The Emperor burst into laughter at Mulla’s clever answer. Impressed by his wit and good manners, the Emperor invited him to stay, and they enjoyed a wonderful dinner together. The courtiers learned that wisdom and humor can make every situation pleasant.

ایک دن بادشاہ نے ملا نصرالدین کو شاہی دعوتِ شام پر مدعو کیا۔ ملا نصرالدین نے احتراماً مقررہ وقت سے کافی پہلے محل پہنچنے کا فیصلہ کیا۔ جب بادشاہ نے انہیں دیکھا تو مسکرا کر بولا، "ملا! آپ اتنی جلدی کیوں آگئے؟ ابھی تو کھانا بھی تیار نہیں ہوا!" دربار کے لوگ ہنسنے لگے اور سب کو ملا نصرالدین کے جواب کا انتظار تھا۔
ملا نصرالدین نے ادب سے جھک کر کہا، "جہاں پناہ! آپ نے دعوت اتنی جلدی بھیجی تھی، اس لیے میں نے سوچا کہ مجھے بھی جلدی آ جانا چاہیے!" بادشاہ ان کی حاضر جوابی سن کر زور سے ہنس پڑا۔ وہ ملا نصرالدین کی عقل، خوش اخلاقی اور مزاح سے بہت متاثر ہوا اور انہیں اپنے ساتھ دعوت میں شریک کیا۔ اس دن سب نے سیکھا کہ دانائی اور خوش مزاجی ہر صورتحال کو خوشگوار بنا سکتی ہے۔

Mulla Nasruddin had a neighbor who always believed he was smarter than everyone else. One day, he saw Mulla riding his donkey and laughed at him. "Why ride a donkey when you can walk?" he mocked. Mulla simply smiled and invited the neighbor to try riding the donkey himself. The neighbor gladly agreed, thinking he would prove Mulla wrong.
No matter what the neighbor did, Mulla found a reason why people might criticize him. When he rode alone, people complained. When he sat behind Mulla, others still found fault. Finally, Mulla explained that it is impossible to please everyone. The wise thing is to do what is right and comfortable, rather than worrying about the opinions of others. The neighbor realized his mistake and learned an important lesson that day.

**Moral:** You cannot please everyone. Always do what is right and sensible instead of seeking everyone's approval.

ملا نصرالدین کا ایک پڑوسی تھا جو خود کو سب سے زیادہ عقل مند سمجھتا تھا۔ ایک دن اس نے ملا کو گدھے پر سوار دیکھا اور مذاق اڑاتے ہوئے کہا، "جب تم چل سکتے ہو تو گدھے پر کیوں سوار ہوتے ہو؟" ملا مسکرائے اور اسے خود گدھے پر سوار ہونے کی دعوت دی۔ پڑوسی فوراً تیار ہوگیا کیونکہ وہ سمجھتا تھا کہ وہ ملا کو غلط ثابت کر دے گا۔
مگر چاہے پڑوسی کچھ بھی کرتا، لوگ اس پر تنقید کرتے۔ جب وہ اکیلا سوار ہوا تو لوگوں نے اعتراض کیا، اور جب وہ ملا کے ساتھ بیٹھا تو پھر بھی باتیں بننے لگیں۔ آخر میں ملا نصرالدین نے اسے سمجھایا کہ دنیا کے تمام لوگوں کو خوش کرنا ناممکن ہے۔ انسان کو وہی کام کرنا چاہیے جو درست اور مناسب ہو، نہ کہ وہ جو دوسروں کو خوش کرنے کے لیے کیا جائے۔ پڑوسی نے اپنی غلطی تسلیم کی اور ایک قیمتی سبق سیکھ لیا۔

**سبق:** ہر ایک کو خوش کرنا ممکن نہیں۔ ہمیشہ وہی کام کریں جو درست، سمجھدارانہ اور مناسب ہو۔

Mulla smiled, paid for the merchant’s opinion, and walked away.
A little later, Mulla returned and revealed that the sack was filled with ordinary stones. The merchant felt embarrassed when everyone realized he had set a high price simply out of greed. Mulla then said, “The value of something is determined by what it truly is, not by the greed of the person judging it.” The crowd laughed, and the merchant learned an unforgettable lesson about honesty and fairness.
**Moral:** Greed clouds judgment, while honesty and fairness lead to respect and wisdom.

کچھ دیر بعد ملا واپس آئے اور سب کے سامنے تھیلا کھول دیا۔ تھیلا عام پتھروں سے بھرا ہوا تھا۔ یہ دیکھ کر لوگ ہنس پڑے اور تاجر شرمندہ ہوگیا، کیونکہ اس نے حقیقت جانے بغیر صرف اپنی لالچ کی وجہ سے قیمت لگائی تھی۔ ملا نصرالدین نے کہا، "کسی چیز کی اصل قیمت اس کی حقیقت سے ہوتی ہے، نہ کہ لالچی انسان کی باتوں سے۔" اس دن تاجر نے ایمانداری اور انصاف کی اہمیت سیکھ لی۔
