Diving into Online Arbitrage Chapter 1
Chapter 1: What is online arbitrage and how to start it?
What is arbitrage?
Arbitrage means that the same product of the exact same quality is sold on two different platforms at a different price. In this, the market is not in equilibrium which gives investors an opportunity to earn the spread the market is providing.
How to start?
1) You can start online arbitrage with a very minimal budget but the best is to at least start from $2000. Invest 70% of it and keep 30% as a reserve for purchasing more inventory. Do not invest 100% of your budget because in the end you won't be having any cash in hand for purchasing and all will be with amazon.
2) You can start with an individual account as well unlike Wholesale where the company is a must. This is because we don't take brand approvals and don't purchase inventory from wholesalers.
What should be done?
Daily hunting should be done for more and more profitability just like drop shipping.
Per product, margin can be high or low but accumulated profit from a single product will be low as we only order 8-15 units of a single product. So for overcoming this issue, you daily need to hunt and launch more products.
Why online arbitrage is better than drop shipping?
We purchase our own inventory and ship that to the amazon warehouse for fba. We don't do fbm in this. Secondly, there won't be any packaging as we deliver our inventory to the prep centre where packaging is changed by the agents. So no issue with packaging. This eliminates the chances of negative reviews (due to packaging complaints) and reduces the chances of Account suspension.
The next step?
If you think, a product is generating a good amount of money for you and you think that this product can be a good fit for Wholesale, then go ahead and take brand approvals for it and convert that product into a Wholesale model. This further improves your position as this totally eliminates any chances of IP and invoice issues. Also, you will get more of the BB as you will have more inventory (one of the factors of BB rotation).
Tips:
1) Always go for ungated categories at the start and slowly ungate the gated categories and launch those products as well.
2) Whenever you find a source, directly purchase the product and don't wait. Mostly, the retailers offering the lowest price goes OOS.

2 DEFECTS REMOVED!

Few weeks ago, I got a client whose seller level was top-rated and he was doing Drop-shipping on this account. 3 customers opened a case for “item not received” and due to negligence, those cases were not solved and eBay jumped in and gave the customers a full refund. Account seller level dropped down to below standard.

What I did?
I filed an appeal to eBay stating that the product was lost in transit and this is totally not in our hands. I provided them each and every detail of the order, customer, case ID, and also offered a replacement to the customer (offering replacement depends on the situation).
I appealed to all 3 defects.

Outcome:
eBay granted an appeal for one defect, closed another appeal by sticking to their previous decision, and something strange happened with the other appeal. For the third appeal, their customer support said that appeal is granted, but eBay left a message that we are sticking with our original decision.

What’s next?
Now as one of the appeals was granted but the second was rejected, I opened a chat with eBay for the second appeal, and explained to them again that the product was lost in transit and I am not responsible for it. So after checking the Case ID, eBay granted the second appeal as well.
As far as the 3rd appeal is concerned, hopefully, it will be granted before the next evaluation.

Status:
The seller level of account is again top rated, and also we have already ordered inventory from Alibaba and we will work on stock products in the future.

Tips:
1) Always reply to your customers on time, solve their queries and entertain them by giving refunds (in required situations).
2) Daily check your supplier prices and stock status.
3) If a customer places an order, and the product is OOS on your supplier’s website, tell your customer that you are out of stock and would like to give a full refund to you. Don’t wait for your customer to open a case.
4) To appeal a defect:
Help > request to remove defects > You will see defect cases > click on remove defects (written under action).
5) Some of the defects can’t be appealed from here so go to:
returns and refunds > enter order ID > click on see details > in the end file an appeal will be written. Click on that and appeal according to the situation.
6) To chat with eBay:
Go to Help > contact us > Account > Appeal a defect > Chat with us.

For people who say defects can’t be removed:
They say this because they don’t follow strategies and always look for jugaar. But that’s not the case. eBay is a big platform and you should never go for jugaars, instead follow a strategy and guideline from those who know how to deal with it.

eBay Account Reinstated!
This account was made using Pakistani credentials and after verifying mobile number & email, the account was directly suspended. The account was made and suspended during Q4. No bank account or Payoneer was attached with the account.

Reason of suspension according to eBay:
No reason was stated by them and they kept on saying that suspensions are permanent and you can’t get back your account.

Solution:
Deal with them diplomatically and make them realize that you are not a threat to their community and you will follow all the policies stated by them. Talk with them politely and once they agree, they will ask some questions which totally depends on the situation and type of suspension.

QUESTIONS THEY ASKED ME AFTER THEY WERE COMPLETELY SATISFIED:
Question 1:
Give us your name, email, and postal code
Question 2:
Why you opened this account and what are your future plans?
Question 3:
Send us your bank statement, utility bill, or any other verifiable document. We need to verify your address details.

Tips:
If you can, please make your accounts before Q4 but still if you make it during Q4, keep each and every document with yourself.
Your national ID, bank statement/utility bill details must match your eBay and payoneer account details. If details do not match, they will not reinstate your account.
Your words and only your words can win you cases against a marketplace. Before opening a case with them, make sure you focus on each and every possibility and make yourself ready for their questions. Also talk with them politely and make them realize that you are here to do simple business which will benefit both the parties.
