If you're planning to travel to Gilgit-Baltistan in your own vehicle, please keep one important thing in mind: as breathtaking as this region is, its roads are equally complex and dangerous. Only a seasoned local driver—someone who knows these routes like the back of their hand—can truly navigate them safely.
Many tourists try to save money by choosing to drive themselves, but this decision can prove fatal. Time and again, we have witnessed such choices cost precious lives. A recent tragic example is the heartbreaking accident involving four young men from Gujrat, whose vehicle remained missing for days after the crash.
The mountain roads of Gilgit-Baltistan are far more treacherous than most people anticipate. Winding paths, sudden landslides, and deep ravines are all part of the landscape. Overconfidence in your driving skills can be extremely dangerous in such conditions.
We strongly urge you to hire a local, experienced driver. The people of Gilgit-Baltistan are known for their hospitality and honesty. There's no culture of exploiting tourists here. Your safety and comfort are our top priorities.
Please, make caution and vigilance your travel companions.
Let this journey become a cherished memory, not a source of sorrow.
