Affan Salman, a 16-year-old from Pakistan, has won the World Youth Scrabble Championship in Sri Lanka, marking a historic achievement for his country. This victory represents Pakistan’s fifth title in the prestigious event, making it the first nation to accomplish such a feat.

Salman excelled by winning 19 out of 23 games, showcasing his strategic prowess and skill. The competition drew 138 players from around the world. According to the World English-Language Scrabble Players Association (WESPA), Salman concluded the tournament with an impressive 20-4 record and a spread of +1793.

Police on Monday arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar and PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat outside the Parliament.

According to police sources, Shoaib Shaheen was also arrested from his home.

The police are still stationed outside the Parliament House to arrest more PTI leaders.

Before Barrister Gohar’s arrest, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Zain Qureshi, and Shahid Khattak were also present with him inside the Parliament House.

Police officials have stated that Umar Ayub and Zartaj Gul will also be arrested; however, Ali Muhammad Khan has left the Parliament House and has not been arrested by the police.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNAs including party chairman Barrister Gohar were arrested by Islamabad police following prior approval from NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq.

On Monday, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, Sher Afzal Marwat, and Shoaib Shaheen were arrested. The Capital police arrested MNAs Zain Qureshi and Sheikh Waqas Akram from inside the Parliament House.

Additionally, police detained Owais Ahmed Chatha, Syed Shah Ahmed, Sunni Ittehad Council’s Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Yousaf Khan, Maulana Naseem Shah, and Ahmed Shah Khattak.

Sources said Speaker NA Ayaz Sadiq allowed the arrest of PTI MNAs outside the premises of the house. The development followed after police presented a copy of an FIR registered against the PTI lawmakers for violating SOPs during a September 8 public rally.

Chinese tech giant Huawei on Tuesday unveiled its new smartphone, billed as the world’s first trifold phone, hours after US competitor Apple lifted the curtain on its new iPhone built for AI.

The Mate XT was officially launched in a keynote presentation by Huawei executive Richard Yu at the firm’s headquarters in the southern city of Shenzhen.

Originally designed as a premium phone for a niche audience, over three million people registered interest in buying the Mate XT ahead of its launch.

The gadget officially goes on sale on September 20, with prices beginning at an eye-watering $2,800 — over three times more than the new iPhone 16.

Pakistan bagged its first victory in the ongoing Asian Hockey Champions Trophy, beating Japan 2-1 at the Moqi Hockey Training Base in Inner Mongolia, China. Nadeem Ahmed gave Pakistan an early lead with a first-quarter goal, but Japan leveled the score in the second quarter. Sufyan Khan’s goal shortly after restored Pakistan’s advantage, which they held on to until the end, securing a crucial win.

Earlier, Pakistan's matches against South Korea and Malaysia both ended in 2-2 draws. Against South Korea, Pakistan staged a dramatic comeback with two late goals by Hanan Shahid, only for Korea to equalize before the final whistle.

Pakistan will next face China on September 12, followed by a high-stakes match against India on September 14.

Samsung is ready to show off the Galaxy S25 series in January 2025. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to have big improvements, especially with its new 50-megapixel ultrawide camera. This is a big step up from the 12-megapixel camera on the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The new camera will have a brighter lens, meaning it can take better pictures and even record 8K videos. Even though the camera will be the same size as before, it might have smaller pixels that could cause some picture noise. But Samsung might fix this with a better mode in low light.

The brighter lens on the S25 Ultra can take in about 34% more light, making photos look better, especially in darker places.

Petrol and high-speed diesel prices are set to drop by Rs 12 per liter from September 16, marking the fourth consecutive fortnight of price cuts amid falling inflation and global oil trends. Kerosene oil is expected to see a reduction of Rs 8 per liter.

The final decision will depend on international market fluctuations observed between September 12 and 14. Earlier, the government reduced petrol prices by Rs 1.86, bringing the rate to Rs 259.10 per liter, while diesel was lowered by Rs 3.32 to Rs 262.75 per liter. These changes reflect the government's continued effort to ease the burden on consumers.

Pakistani athlete Zainuddin Tareen won gold in the 4th Asia IKD Karate Championship in the under-18 age category. He brought pride to Pakistan by defeating Tajikistan in the quarter-finals, Iraq in the semi-finals, and Iran in the final.

The championship, held in Isfahan, Iran, concludes today. A total of 11 Asian countries participated, including Pakistan, Iraq, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Oman, Sri Lanka, Turkmenistan, Kuwait, Indonesia, and the host country, Iran.

Around 80 international, Asian, and national referees were involved. Pakistan's national karate team, led by IKD Pakistan President Jalaluddin Tareen, competed in the event.
