On June 1st, the Tec Labs team attended the final presentations of the “Projeto Empresarial” course, a joint initiative between Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa and Iscte - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa 🚀

Throughout the semester, multidisciplinary teams brought together students and projects from Ciências, contributing the scientific and technological foundations of their ideas, and students from ISCTE-IUL, who explored the business and management dimensions needed to develop an initial business model 💡

Tec Labs was pleased to support the programme, which culminated in a public presentation of the projects, showcasing the creativity, dedication and entrepreneurial mindset of all participants.

A special thank you to the jury - Rui Ferreira, José Vale, Miguel Garcês Roxo and Rui Cortes - for their valuable insights and evaluation of the projects.

🚀 Pollen, a startup incubated at Tec Labs, has emerged from stealth mode and raised a €3.2M seed round to accelerate the future of electric two-wheeler mobility.

The company is building a universal battery-swapping network that allows riders to replace batteries in under a minute, making electric mobility simpler, faster and more accessible for everyday use.

📍 After launching its first network in Lisbon, Pollen is already preparing its international expansion, with Spain identified as its next market.

As Rui Bento, Co-founder and CEO of Pollen, puts it:
“Cities can’t hit their climate goals while millions of everyday rides still run on petrol. But people won’t switch just because something is electric. They want a simpler and more affordable way to get around.”

On this World Environment Day, hear from Professor Cristina Cruz, Co-Founder of Nutrivalley, a spin-off from Ciências ULisboa, as she presents the vision behind FungiFill and the development of Lusoturf, a sustainable alternative for artificial turf infill materials.

By combining scientific research, biological resources, and industrial innovation, the project is helping build more sustainable solutions from the ground up.
