PMBOK® Guide — Fifth Edition (exposure draft) is now available for review
Recently, Project Management Institute (PMI® ) has released the exposure draft of “A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) — Fifth Edition" for public review.

You may access soft copy of the exposure draft of PMBOK® Guide –Fifth Edition to review it by logging to www.pmi.org

If you are not a PMI member, don’t worry. You can register with PMI (as any non-member user) and can generate a username & password and then you will have access to the exposure draft.

The exposure draft will be open through 20 March for public review and everybody from the public is invited to review and comment.

As project practitioner your review of the exposure draft and comments (suggestions) are very important to improve the PMBOK® Guide –Fifth Edition.

The Value of a PMP Certification

With inflation a certainty, you cannot stay forever in that job and receive the same pay check for years. As your responsibility broadens in scope, you learn the tricks of the trade and deserve a better chance at earning bigger pay or getting hired by a big name company that pays well. So what has to be done to prove that you have mastered project management in the course 7 years? A project management professional or PMP certification will give you all the chances to get a better paying job and the recognition and respect of your peers.

This certification is also recognized around the world yet you don't have to travel far and wide to get this PMI accredited certification. Right in your locality, there are PMI accredited training centers that provide the required 35 hours contact prior to the PMI certification exam, which is also available in your area.

Of course, a PMP training course is not cheap; but if you consider this as a career investment, every cent you spend on the training and the examination fee is worth all the trouble. Once you pass the PMP certification exam, doors to opportunities will open like a charm to let you in - towards better paying jobs in any part of the globe.

Cum sa faci cele 60 de PDU-uri fara costuri – 2012

D**a schimbarile referitoare la regulile privind obtinerea PDU-urilor publicate in 2011 in handbook-ul de PMP, pot spune ca nu a fost niciodata mai usor de acoperit cele 60 de PDU-uri. Iata mai jos, o schema foarte simpla, prin care cei certificati PMP pot acumula cele 60 de PDU-uri si chiar mai mult de 60 de PDU-uri, cu un pic de efort dar fara costuri aditionale:

1. 15 PDU-uri din activitatea profesionala – Categoria F. Nu trebuie neaparat sa fi fost manager de proiect ci sa fi desfasurat activitati calificabile pentru management de proiect. Pentru aceste activitati calificabile, aduceti-va aminte de aplicatia pe care ati facut-o inainte de examen. Oricum nu vi se cere o aplicatie ca la examen, e mult mai simplu. Doar in caz de audit, o referinta ar trebui sa valideze faptul ca ati fost in rolul X si ati lucrat in conmpania pe care ati mentionat-o cand ati aplicat pentru cele 15 PDU-uri.
2. 30 PDU-uri din auto-invatare/self-learning – Categoria C. O carte de PM citita sau cu subiecte de PM, discutii cu un coleg, cu un consultant pe subiecte de PM. Exemplu de subiecte: estimari, aria de cuprindere a proiectului, modalitatea de raportare, sistem de metrici etc. Regula de baza este o ora de efort investit = 1 PDU
3. 15 pana la 30 de PDU-uri din voluntariat – Categoria E. Atentie, faptul ca faceti mentoring sau coaching free of charge la un coleg se califica in aceasta categorie. Regula de baza e aceeasi: o ora de efort = 1 PDU. Singura conditie este ca la un eventual audit cel care a fost coach-uit de voi sa valideze asta. Pot exista si dovezi de genul: emailuri, minute etc.

D**a cm vedeti, puteti aduna fara costuri aditionale chiar mai mult de 60 de PDU-uri. Nu sunteti constransi sa va duceti la un curs sau la intalnire special pentru PDU-uri. Va duceti numai daca subiectele discutate acolo va atrag.
Pe langa cele 3 modalitati de mai sus exista si altele prin care puteti sa castigati PDU-uri si sunt free of charge:
4. Scrierea de articole publicate intr-o revista sau pe un blog – Categoria D
5. Participarea la webinare – categoria B
6. Participarea la un curs sau workshop (cu subiecte de PM) inhouse in cadrul companiei unde sunteti angajati – categoria B
