SENIOR MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN (10 Vacancies)
Location: Qatar
Mobilization Date: ASAP
Duration: 12 month++
Rotation: resident
Salary : 1,300 – 1,700 USD$ (this salary is inclusive of all fixed overtime)

Job Description
a) Must have more than 10 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance works in the Petrochemical or Power Generation industry.
b) Educational qualifications: OND o r equal in a relevant discipline or standard based qualification (NVQ level 3) or equivalent. Note: May be required to undertake Competency Based test witnessed by the COMPANY Discipline engineer.
c) Must have a fairly good knowledge & understanding of various process equipment.
d) Must be able to read, write and speak English (IELTS 6 Equivalent) and to be able to communicate with the majority manpower in their language.
e) Must be capable of supporting QA/QC and HSE compliance audits, site procedures and working instructions.
f) Must be trained and proficient with alignment of rotating equipment with reverse dial gauge alignment and preferably rotalign / optalign equipment.
g) Verifies alignment and tolerances of moving parts, using measuring instruments, such as dial indicators and thickness gauges.
h) Must be able to interpret job requests, perform tests to confirm the problem and propose repair methods without permanent supervision.
i) Must have experience in and be able to place and remove spades and to open and close pipe fl**ges, recognise the gasket types and types of bolts / nuts.
j) Familiar with assembly and testing of safety and relief valves, performs valve testing by using test benches.
k) Must have experience in and be able to perform proper slinging and lifting with chain- blocks and small cranes.
l) Should be able to deputise for the Supervisor and act as Leader to less experienced technicians.
m) Must have experience in and be able to execute preparation of work packs, e.g. to carry out all the necessary work planning and preparations to be able to execute the site works and compile the relevant information in a work pack for submission with the Permit to Work request.
n) Must have full understanding of Company’s Permit to Work system and be able to exercise
his duties under this system, e.g. in a role as Permit Acceptor. NB: Persons failing Company’s PTW
course shall not be designated as Senior Technician.
p) Must be able to lead a group of Technicians and/or Helpers.
Meets all minimum requirements for Mechanical Technician.
For Senior Mechanical Technicians additional skills are required. Depending on the designated area of deployment these skills are:
Pipe fitting
a) Must have more than 5 years’ experience in pipefitting work in the Petrochemical or Power generation industry.
b) Must be able to make sound assessment of sealing surfaces.
c) Must be able to read and draw isometric drawings.
d) Must be able to lead a group of Junior Technicians and or Helpers.
e) Should be able to deputise for the Supervision and act as Leader to less experienced Pipe Fitters.
f) Must have experience in and be able to fit all piping as per isometrics
g) M u s t be able to fit a 45-degree pipe-to-pipe connection.
h) Must be able to repair and make steam tracing.
Torqueing/Tensioning
a) Must have more than 5 years’ experience as a mechanical tradesman in the Petrochemical industry of which at least 2 years has been performed in the role of a Torque/Tensioning Technician.
b) Must have good and proven knowledge & understanding of torqueing/bolt tensioning.
c) Must be able to understand and communicate the requirements of Companies Fl**ge Tightening
procedure and be able to execute fl**ge management in line with this procedure. d) Must be able to understand job tasks and take verbal instruction.
Rotating Equipment
a) Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Rotating Equipment Mechanical Technician.
b) Must have experience in and be able to properly pull-up gland packing and replace it.
c) Must have experience in and be able to remove and assist in re-installing pumps, motors and mixers.
d) Must have experience in and be able to replace V-belts and couplings.
e) Must have experience in a n d be able to r e p l a c e mechanical seals in p u m p s and compressors.
f) Must have experience in and be able to perform an alignment with reverse dial gauge method under supervision.
Valve Maintenance
a) Must be able to make sound assessment of sealing surfaces.
b) Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings.
c) Must understand the various types of valves e.g. Gate Valve, Globe Valve, Safety Relief Valve, Control Valve, etc.
