This is how the story of our
company started. Our leading partner, Daria Vorobyova, had been working for several years with an expat in a Russian most large-scale aviation holding, and at one moment she found herself in a chair sitting in front of the expat. He told Daria that his contract with the company in Russia would be completed within several months and he was going back to Scotland, his homeland. It didn’t come as a shock for her, despite the fact that she was not his assistant, but she helped him a lot on both job and personal matters. And though Daria felt sorry for the parting, she braced herself, wished him great luck back in Scotland. And all of a sudden a problem came: it appeared that this expat’s visa had expired a few days ago, (due to a monstrous inadvertence of those who were in charge of it) and he was under the threat of deportation and further decline of visa up to 10 years. Daria was quite nervous about the whole situation, because Russian laws are quite tricky and tangled. What started as the mere carelessness of one person may result in big problems both for the holding and for the Daria’s colleague. The worst thing was that the authorities of the British embassy were completely unhelpful and failed to provide the expat with the urgent and proficient help. She had several higher formations as a jurist and was well-aware of the difficulties of Russian red tape and the turmoil which takes place in office benches of Moscow and Russia overall. It is obvious that to overcome all this is a disaster even for a native Russian, not mentioning the foreigner. It took our leading partner almost 2 days to take care of her colleague’s business and, all in all, it all turned out well, but let’s be honest: it is an excruciating experience for an expat who does neither speak Russian, nor does he know Russian laws and customs. We don’t want this to happen again, as Russia is a highly civilized country and does want to be a safe, hospitable and comfortable place for every foreigner who comes either as a tourist or a business person.
