Yesterday I had reason to go back to my PhD thesis to check something that I remembered but not where it was written. It turned out to be in a paper published 1999 and was included in my thesis.

Some things in today’s research are new but not actually completely new. They are more insights to something which has be explored to some extent before. But too few experiments and data at that time made that it was not possible to come to some conclusions at that time.

The CS-PVT is having a renewal. Various types of layers and surface structures can be explored for new applications on SiC wafers. This is a good time to create a materials commons approach. We will make SiC material available in return of data. It offers to explore new business models for the future manufacturing.

Data-driven value creation aligns with the digital transition. No technology is realistically implemented without consideration of data. Digital assets and sustainability assets will become essential for commercialization.

Advisor for international conference

An advisor should do advisory contribution. Conferences often have international advisors listed. But there is often no advisory activity. That diluted the meaning of advisory role. At the same time, motivating advisory activity can support to have more participants and other positive aspects.

Microwave heating of CS-PVT silicon carbide materials

A couple of days ago I had discussion about joint effort EU-India. India has less experience in silicon carbide. But for new developments we should have experience from other areas. Then we combine and create a new approach. That is how I will involve researchers from India who are interested in new activities and being part of Horizon Europe 2026-2027 proposals, and in calls in FP10 programme period.

We have to start early to position.

Processing and engineering of surfaces and materials is a thematic area in the IW-SiC platform. Thanks to meetings there is an interesting opportunity about microwave heating of silicon carbide.

We can offer various SiC materials by CS-PVT (4H, 6H, 3C) and modifications of surfaces by intentional growth mode modification, as well as post processing (for example graphene on silicon carbide). Opportunities are many by acting jointly as an ecosystem.

Spring arrives in Sweden and I need to work on project description and should include the international interests. Fortunately I already know some thanks to IW-SiC forum exchange. So I can enjoy some of nice sunny Spring day (wife will anyway ask me to fix things in garden, no option to decide).

The good thing about gardening is that the time is excellent for digesting ideas, angles, and then go in an write instead of sit at computer to write and rewrite. And I get some exercise. Which I can compensate for by a beer in late afternoon sun.
