For a long time, I told myself I was “planning.” In reality, I was protecting myself from the risk of trying—and the possibility of failing in public.
What held me back wasn’t a lack of ideas. It was a collection of myths that sounded responsible, even wise. They were the kind of beliefs you can hide behind and still feel like a serious person.
This is what I used to believe, why it felt so convincing, how I challenged it, and what changed once I finally started.
I still get nervous. I still have days where I wonder if I’m doing enough or if I’m doing it right. But the myths don’t control me the way they used to, because I’ve seen what happens on the other side of action.
The biggest change wasn’t just progress in my business—it was a change in how I see myself. I’m not “someone who wants to start.” I’m someone who shows up, learns, and keeps building.
If you’re stuck in the same place I was, I hope this lands gently: you don’t need more permission. You don’t need to feel ready. You just need one small, honest step—then another. The confidence comes later, but it does come.
