Trust is the foundation of a well-functioning workplace. The effectiveness of your company's teamwork directly impacts your success.
Trust requires a reliable leader. It is their job to build and maintain trust after achieved. But where to start? 🤔
1. Communicate honestly 🗣:
Be open about the company goals. Involve your people in the bigger picture, and be honest. Honesty builds trust and is a foundation of communication between teams and team members. Make sure your leadership is identified with core values.
2. Participate in the office 🏢:
Take part in as many team activities as you can. You are dedicated to your people, not just to the company. Spending more time together on different occasions will help develop trusting relationships. Explore ways to interact with your employees more, and pay them attention in every situation.
3. Act like how you want them to act 🦄:
When new employees join your team/company, they first observe the management attitude. If you don't keep your word and act as you say you do, they can lose their reliance on you. You need the become an example for your employees and an accountable leading figure they can rely on.
4. Up-to-date competence 🏃♀️:
If you are a leader, your role is to help when someone needs advice or guidance. You are usually viewed as the most experienced individual. It's important to demonstrate your capability when required and arrive prepared when your team counts on you and your professional abilities. If you are in a situation where you find yourself without the necessary experience to give advice or make a decision, your best shot is, to be honest about it. Otherwise, you can lose your accountability.
5. Trust them 👐:
If you have trust in someone, they feel it. Trust can often result in confidence in the other person. If you believe in them, their perception of you can mirror your beliefs. It's always good to start the relationship with trust and to expect the same.
6. Be passionate ✨:
Leaders who are passionate about a cause can be huge influencers. If you have passion for your work, for outsiders, it can equal being excellent in what you do. This can revoke trust in people around you.
