For years, the resume has been a shortcut: a quick way to decide who looks worth talking to.

AI has changed that equation. A candidate can now tailor their experience, language, and positioning to look remarkably well matched to almost any role. The resume may tell you exactly what you want to hear. But it tells you less and less about what that person will actually do when the work gets real.

That creates a new question for hiring leaders: if AI can help candidates look like the perfect fit, how do you find out who can actually perform?

Patrick Saikas and Michael Tapia explore what hiring leaders should do differently on our BTS blog: https://bit.ly/4qisWE4

Most AI adoption data is focused on what technology organizations are investing in.

We wanted to know what adoption actually feels like for the people doing the work.

BTS surveyed nearly 400 professionals across industries and role levels this spring. Here’s what we learned:

- Only 7% of organizations describe themselves as fully AI-native
- Nearly 1 in 3 respondents say they use unapproved AI tools at least sometimes
- Leaders encourage AI experimentation more than they model it
