We had the pleasure of working with composer Felipe Lara in engraving his Double Concerto for esperanza spalding, Claire Chase and large orchestra.

We’ve disappeared for a hot minute…or hour - been busy with a lot of projects! Here’s something we worked on earlier in the year, where we created a pseudo trombone mute clef and worked with a lot of detailed notation!

Engraving music with graphic notation is a great way to learn about the many different ways one can communicate musical ideas.

This was a project for composer Stephon Davis. Two works: Stadiums for solo Vibraphone, which incorporated a lot of graphic notation, and an adaptation of Undine Smith Moore’s “Watch and Pray” for voice and marimba. You can listen to their music in the links below! 👇

The graphic assets were created primarily outside of Sibelius on an external application and then imported, but when possible we used existing symbols in Sibelius to create shapes that the composer requested.

This was a great opportunity to work on preparing music for an online concert by Eureka Ensemble. We edited a score and prepared parts originally for brass quintet, and assisted in creating a string quintet version of a fabulous work by Ileana Perez Velazquez.

Also, composers! Hit us up if you want cute, but simple cover page designs. We draw them for free!

And we are back!

We had a great time working with Singapore Chinese Orchestra
on this mammoth project. 323 pages of score editing and preparing a bunch of works for Chinese Orchestra ready for publication. Stay tuned, the book will be out for sale in November!
