When reinvention finds you
When John and I started working together, he was facing something many senior leaders quietly fear. The space that opens up when you step away from something that’s defined you for years.
He’d spent decades at the highest levels of the creative industry. The end of that chapter felt heavy and uncertain.
Early on, I asked him a simple question:
What becomes possible if you allow yourself to imagine something completely different?
At first, it was just an idea. Then it started to take shape. I once mentioned “landscape gardener” as a random example of a fresh start. To my surprise, it stayed with him.
Months later, John told me he’d decided to become a gardener.
And for the first time, there was something new in his voice. A sense of calm. A quiet confidence.
That’s the work.
Not solving the problem.
But creating the space for something new to emerge.
