A classic example is what some call the **“Wedding Mafia.”
One bride might start with a wedding planner, who then connects her to a jewelry designer, bridal boutique, photographer, fitness coach, lawyer, or even a realtor for the couple’s future home. One opportunity — many businesses supported.

During the Hot Potato segment, members quickly share how they can help and pass the opportunity to someone else who might also benefit. It’s fast-paced, fun, and a powerful demonstration of how strong referral networks work.

From the early morning registration to the high-impact networking sessions, it was a room full of intentionality. We had over 70 business owners and decision-makers under one roof, all with a single goal: building real connections that drive growth.

This week at BNI Ascend, our very own Naturopathy Therapist, Chay Wai Chung, took us to the "dojo" to learn why visitors are the lifeblood of a thriving chapter. Just like a martial artist needs new sparring partners to stay sharp, a business network needs fresh energy to avoid stagnation!

Wai Chung broke down the "Hidden Gold" that visitors bring to the table:

💰 Immediate Value: Each guest brings an average of $1,000 TYCB (Thank You For Closed Business) to the room.

📣 Referral Ambassadors: Even if they don’t join, they leave as ambassadors who know exactly how to refer business to us.

🌊 Flow Like Water: Visitors prevent "Exhausted Networks." They bring the urgency and fresh excitement that keeps our business gears turning.

The Technique: G.R.I.P. 👊

Wai Chung reminded us that inviting is a "stance" we must practice daily using the G.R.I.P. method:

When 30+ masters strike as one, the impact is undeniable. We saw a calculated bump of +$330k in total chapter revenue—that’s a +$12k personal profit per member!
