"Applications for permanent residency or citizenship are assessed independently and based on considerations including the applicant’s family ties to Singaporeans, ability to integrate into society, economic contributions and commitment to sinking roots in Singapore", a testament to what we do for our clients!

The Manpower Minister added that there are clear benefits if work pass holders are well-integrated into Singapore's society.

"I am very grateful to Singapore as the host country but I hope that they will do more for the foreign workers who help build Singapore. We are not just workers but we are humans who have families to support. What will become of us after the host country cuts our jobs after we have served for 10 to 20 years? We can go home to the Philippines, but then who will hire us when we are already in our late 30s and 40s?"

The foreign worker quota in the services sector will be cut as finance minister Heng notes that the growth in S-pass services holders hit a five-year high in 2018.

Are we already losing out? Academics and Politicians cite national security and a loss of national identity (among others) as reasons Singapore is not looking towards dual citizenship, at least not in the near future.

Professor Leo Suryadinata posits that Singapore, as a young nation-state lacks a solid cultural and national identity to risk citizens diluting their loyalties. In its essence, the assumption is that in a situation where an individual with dual citizenship is forced to choose between the two countries, Singapore tends to lose out.

While it may be true that we are in a political climate of nationalism and countries seemingly closing up rather than reaching outwards. (Brexit, Trump, etc), it is also a time of rapid globalization. Be it Singapore, Japan or Saudi Arabia, for how long can nations maintain a grip on their citizens?

Is it unreasonable to dream of an age where the world is so shrunken and cultures so assimilated that we can live without passports?

The issue of whether Singapore should one day consider dual citizenship has been raised from time to time in discussions about the future of Singapore citizenship.. Read more at straitstimes.com.

This news report has been causing quite a stir among both foreigners and locals in Singapore. This serves as a timely reminder that when it boils down to immigration, it has to be handled in a sensitive manner to maintain social harmony.
We understand the sentiments of both sides with the concept of a ‘guest’ and ‘host’ of the house. The key question is – How then should we restore trust in the immigration selection process that may result from careless doings of individuals?
As Immigration Specialists, it is our duty to help identify Permanent Residency (PR) and Citizenship candidates with good intentions and best interests for our nation. Given our experience interacting with people coming from various countries, we understand the cultural differences and seek to guide our hopeful applicants on the appropriate social mindset and behaviours, in effort to facilitate their integration into Singapore.

The Eight Riversuites resident, Mr Erramalli Ramesh, was very remorseful when he met senior security supervisor Steven Heng, said a security industry association leader present at the meeting.. Read more at straitstimes.com.

There are a lot of reasons for one to leave one’s home country behind in search of greener pastures, but picking where to go can be an overwhelming decision.
Ideally, for expats living abroad, a truly conducive destination would be a place with a strong economy-boosting a lot of opportunities, a low-priced but high-quality cost of living, a friendly populace open to outsiders, minimal language barrier, vibrant culture and nightlife, and a safe, healthy environment.
Singapore is seen to have ticked all these boxes in HSBC’s latest annual Expat Explorer Survey.
Though it is known worldwide for its extravagance and wealth, Singapore was named the top country for expats due to its strong economic situation and high quality-of-life.

When I visited Singapore in May, I expected it to be wildy expensive. I found that, while renting an apartment is costly, the city is full of cheap, delicious food, efficient public transportation, top-notch museums, a budding nightlife scene, and beautiful parks.

“Immigration has helped to moderate the impact of aging and low birth rates in the citizen population, and has kept it from shrinking in the longer term.”
Our Insights:
For Singapore to remain economically viable, immigration is necessary to supplement Singapore’s population level.
Over here at Dunlin, we meet people who have sincere long term interests of the nation at heart and we wish to support these individuals in their conquest to make Singapore their home.
As Immigration Specialists, we are fully aware that when applying for Permanent Residence (PR) or Citizenship, there are various other factors apart from age and income that are key to the application.
Hence, our advice is to always carefully plan how to structure and build a holistic application that is differentiated from other transient applicants who are less rooted in Singapore.

Once again, Singapore ranks the most liveable location for Asian expatriates since ECA’s liveability rankings began in 2005. Every year, ECA's Location Ratings system objectively evaluates a host of factors, such as availability of health services; housing and utilities; personal safety; political tensions etc, to form an assessment of the overall quality of living in over 480 locations worldwide. This system helps companies establish appropriate allowances to compensate employees for the adjustment required when going on an international assignment.

Singapore is the most liveable city for Asian expats for the 14th year in a row, according to a new survey. Factors cited in the Republic's enduring appeal include access to great facilities, a low crime rate, good quality healthcare and education, as well as a large expat population living here.
