We are delighted to look back on the 10th Make-A-Wish Golf Tournament, proudly presented by Morgan Stanley in collaboration with CG - Singapore, held on 21 March 2012 at the prestigious Singapore Island Country Club, New Course. This distinguished occasion brought together the worlds of golf, business, philanthropy, and corporate leadership in support of the inspiring mission of Make-A-Wish Singapore.

The tournament welcomed President Tony Tan Keng Yam as Guest of Honour, marking a special occasion that celebrated sporting excellence while highlighting the importance of giving back to the community and bringing hope to children facing serious illnesses.

The WORLD GOLF ECONOMIC FORUM (WGEF) is pleased to announce its growing focus on Central Asia, with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan emerging as two key markets for the development of leading golf course and golf-related investment projects.

With preliminary initiatives already gaining momentum, the WORLD GOLF ECONOMIC FORUM is looking towards the development of two significant golf projects β€” one in Kazakhstan and another in Tashkent, Uzbekistan β€” with the objective of progressing towards project launches by mid-2027.

Kazakhstan has been steadily developing its golf sector as interest in the sport grows among business leaders, investors, professionals and a new generation of players. The country's expanding tourism and leisure economy, together with its major cities and growing international business connections, presents opportunities for modern golf destinations that can combine sport, hospitality, real estate, corporate networking and investment.

Uzbekistan is similarly emerging as an exciting destination for golf. Tashkent, as the country's leading commercial and economic centre, offers a strategic platform for introducing high-quality golf infrastructure and integrated golf destinations. Growing international tourism, investment activity and interest in premium lifestyle developments are creating new opportunities for golf to become part of Uzbekistan's broader hospitality and economic development landscape.

The WORLD GOLF ECONOMIC FORUM recently hosted an exclusive Dinner Banquet and Dialogue in Colombo, Sri Lanka, bringing together over a 100 distinguished guests from Sri Lanka’s golfing fraternity, diplomatic corps, business community, investors and regional stakeholders.

The event welcomed five key Advisors and Investors of the WORLD GOLF ECONOMIC FORUM, including Mr. Peter Dalkeith Scott, Mrs. Juliana Sofhia Damu and Mr. Tan Peng, prominent investors and venture capitalists with interests across the region.

The evening focused on the Forum’s plans to expand its presence across South Asia, promoting golf while developing golfing assets and world-class facilities that can contribute to tourism, investment, business networking and regional economic development.

The opening address was delivered by Mr. Mathew Murray, Chief Advisor of the WORLD GOLF ECONOMIC FORUM, who outlined the Forum’s long-term vision for South Asia and its growing international golf and investment network. This was followed by an address from the Forum’s Brand Ambassador, Mr. Mithun Perera, an Asian Tour professional golfer, who shared his perspectives on the growth and development of golf in the region.

A key announcement was the Forum’s intention to host the next edition of the AVIATION CUP in Sri Lanka, bringing together golfers, investors, business leaders and international members of the Forum.

The Forum also announced long-term plans to develop two new golf courses in South Asia one in India and one in Sri Lanka. These projects will build on its previous collaborations involving 16 golf courses across international markets.

Beyond golf-course development, the Forum is exploring the establishment of a golf equipment manufacturing and distribution facility in South Asia, with India and Sri Lanka as key focuses for future development and regional distribution.

The evening also featured an interactive dialogue with the Forum’s Advisors and Investors, providing guests with insights into its investment, development and expansion plans for South Asia.

Looking ahead, the WORLD GOLF ECONOMIC FORUM is also considering hosting a regional Conference, bringing together golf leaders, investors, developers and business communities from across the region.

The Colombo Dinner & Dialogue marks another step in the Forum’s vision to connect golf, investment, tourism and economic opportunity across South Asia.
