Common Roots is a music festival with a big heart. Where indie music, rock, jazz, folk, alternative, all genres find a voice through the artists featured. A forum where artists from around the globe present their talent from their homes. All for 3 good causes :

The idea is to spread love,music outreach while all of you tune in and donate whatever you can for those bitterly impacted by the Big C (!) that has turned our world upside down.

Greetings! Try to find 20 minutes and listen to this conversation between Thich Nhat Hanh and Oprah Winfrey. Specially if you find yourself stressed in a few personal or professional relationships! These are simple but powerful reinforcements that might have crossed your path at some point.

1) Deep listening with compassion: listen to only ease the other person's burden. Offer solutions some other day. True healing will only happen then!
2) Reinforce to your partner/ colleague/ team member/ boss: "I'm here for you"
3) If you're suffering or need help , ASK for it. Just walk up and say " I need help"!!

Singapore prefers a male boss!

The following set of statistics was published in the July 2015 issue of Human Resources magazine.

According to a recent survey done by Jobstreet polling 989 Singaporeans, 64% said a better boss would make them happier at work versus a pay rise.
While the data above is not very surprising, what is interesting is this :
A large number preferred male bosses over female due to the following factors:
Male bosses were said to be :
“Less Emotional”
“Less Micromanaging”
"Less Calculative”

In an older article published in 2011 on news.asiaone.com, a survey was quoted : "Just over half of the women polled and nearly six in 10 men prefer working with male colleagues"

From a more recent survey published in an online article about “bad”work habits of Singapore bosses on jobcentral.com.sg, 33% of respondents said that they would be happier working with a male boss.

At Voicekraft-asia, we think that these perceptions are begging to be addressed. While a lot is being done in the area of Womens’ Leadership in Singapore, a lot more needs to be done at the grassroots level, with young emerging women leaders and focus group interventions across private and public sector organisations.

Diversity needs to be more than a term used for company culture dashboards, it needs action and strategic intervention - decision makers - are you listening?
