The world's biggest challenges rarely suffer from a lack of ideas. More often, the challenge is turning good ideas into solutions that work at scale.
Rishabh Jain, Director, Infrastructure Advisory, KPMG in Singapore, and his team saw this firsthand when they developed a regional guidebook on financing plastic waste management for a regional programme addressing marine plastic pollution in Southeast Asia. While solutions to marine plastic pollution already existed, what was missing was a viable and sustainable way to finance them across very different markets.
Working alongside policymakers, institutions and community stakeholders, the team assessed over 25 funding mechanisms to identify approaches that were both practical and equitable. It reflects what Rishabh has long believed: lasting impact comes not from a single solution, but from bringing ideas, people and action together to create meaningful change.
