🐝 Another Milestone for Insectyumz - Insect Food Pte Ltd -Introducing Our Sixth Edible Insect Species

We are proud to announce the official introduction of our sixth edible insect species — Adult Honey Bees (Apis mellifera) — to Singapore! 🐝

More importantly, we are proud to be the first in Singapore to legally import edible adult honey bees for human consumption, complete with the required health certification.

This achievement represents another significant milestone in our journey to expand Singapore’s edible insect food ecosystem.

Since the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) announced the approval of edible insects on 8 July 2024, we made a commitment to introduce a diverse range of edible insect species from around the world and make them available to consumers in Singapore.

Today, we have successfully introduced species across four major insect orders:

🦗 Orthoptera — House Crickets, Black Crickets & Locusts
🪲 Coleoptera — Mealworms & White Grubs
🦋 Lepidoptera — Silkworm Pupae
🐝 Hymenoptera — Honey Bees

Our current edible insect catalogue:

1. Mealworms — Approved & currently sold in Singapore
2. Crickets — House Cricket & Black Cricket — Approved & currently sold in Singapore
3. Silkworm Pupae — Approved & currently sold in Singapore
4. Locusts — Approved & currently sold in Singapore
5. White Grubs — Approved & currently sold in Singapore — Sold Out
6. Honey Bees (Apis mellifera) — Approved & now available in Singapore

What started as a commitment to bring greater variety to Singapore's edible insect market has now grown into a catalogue spanning six approved edible insect species and four major insect orders.

For us, this is more than simply adding another product.

It is about expanding the possibilities of edible insects in Singapore.

That's a wrap on Flavours of Tomorrow – The Future Pantry Edition! 🌱🦗

It was wonderful to be back at Flavours of Tomorrow for the second year in a row. We're grateful to have been part of this inspiring event once again, connecting with so many people who are passionate about the future of food.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth at Geneo over the weekend. It was a pleasure meeting so many curious visitors, sharing our passion for edible insects, and introducing more people to sustainable protein.

We loved seeing first-time tasters step out of their comfort zones, while also welcoming familiar faces who came back to support us again. The conversations, questions, and feedback we received were incredibly encouraging and show that more people are becoming open to exploring sustainable food alternatives.

It was also a great honour to meet Dr. Thimo Ruethers in person. Thank you for taking the time to visit our booth and for your dedication to advancing research and innovation in the alternative protein and edible insect space.

Finally, thank you to the organisers of Flavours of Tomorrow (Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein by NUS, Singapore Science Park, The Civic Tech Lab) for putting together a fantastic event, and to everyone who sampled our products, made a purchase, or simply took the time to learn more about what we do.

🌧️ Not Even the Heavy Rain Could Stop Us! 🦗💚

The weather may have been relentless, but it certainly didn't stop us—or the many visitors who came by the Central Singapore Market @ Banyan Tree Playground to explore the future of sustainable food last Sunday!

Despite the downpour, we were delighted to meet so many curious first-time visitors and returning supporters who took the opportunity to sample our range of SFA-approved edible insect products and learn more about the benefits of insect-based nutrition.
