What an incredible 2 weeks with the Scottish FA Coach Education department. Absolutely honored to be around some of the greatest Coach Educators in the game, as well as very privileged to be surrounded by some of the most passionate and driven A coach candidates.
Many have asked me why I have been pushing to get on the UEFA A course, even though I do not feel that my future lies directly in football coaching, so let me explain.
Player, Coach and Club Development is central to my core beliefs. As such, I believe it is fundamentally important to push myself to the highest level I can, while being able to identify, inspire and lead those around me.
I began coaching youth and feel that as I transitioned into the adult game, it was important to lead by example and finish the pathway I began in coaching. I have tried for many years to be accepted onto the UEFA A course and thankfully earlier this year the Football Association approved my request. I am deeply honored that the country of my birth and the home of modern football deemed my application and CV worthy enough to potentially join their ranks, alongside so many great names that have come through their education process.
In addition to this, many roles inside football (regardless of not being directly related to coaching) require an A License or above. And so with this, and the fact that I want to be able to help players more, appreciate and relate to coaches more and develop the clubs I work with more, I believe it is imperative that I complete this course.
Finally, I finish what I start.
Again, Thank you to all my fellow coaches and everyone who has supported me along the way. You will never be forgotten and always appreciated. 💚
