You can now get a POSB account for your new worker through Work Permit Online
We have made it easier for your work permit holders to get a bank account to receive their salary. MOM and DBS have worked together to allow you to open a bank account for your workers when you request for their work permit issuance via Work Permit Online (WPOL). This applies to work permit applications approved from 16 October 2014.
To bring even greater convenience to you, there is no minimum account opening deposit required for the POSB salary crediting account.
Your worker can get a POSB bank account in two simple steps:
1) Give MOM consent to disclose you and your workers' information to DBS during the online request for work permit issuance
Your worker now has the option of applying for this bank account along with their work permit. If he/she would like to take up this option, please indicate during the work permit issuance that you have gotten your worker's consent and authorise MOM to disclose the worker and employer's information to POSB. With this consent, MOM can send POSB the relevant information for the bank account application.
2) Activate and collect ATM card after Work Pass Card Registration
The worker must do this in person at the POSB Account Services Centre for Work Permit holders at Hong Lim Complex on the next working day after he/she has reported for Work Pass Card Registration. He/she just needs to bring along his/her original passport and In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter when visiting the branch office at:

For details of the transactions, please go to 'Enquire/Payment Status'. This information is made available to you for the current month and past two months only.
If there is any changes in your existing InterBank GIRO account, please submit the Application Form for InterBank GIRO (WPOL).

Change in HDB Sub-letting Rules for Non-Malaysian Work Permit Holders from Marine and Process Industries from 1 May 2015
From 1 May 2015, HDB will revise subletting rules such that non-Malaysian Work Permit Holders from the Marine and Process sectors will not be eligible to rent a HDB flat or room(s). All new non-Malaysian Marine and Process Work Permit applicants will not be allowed to register HDB addresses.
If your workers are currently sub-tenants of HDB flat/room(s), they can continue to live in the flat/room(s) until the existing subletting approval/registration expires. You may also wish to find alternative accommodation in advance before the expiry of the tenancy agreement. Please also remember to update the change in residential address in OFWAS within five days of the worker moving to a new address.
