The Power of YET — The 3-Letter Career Catalyst
Continuing my sharing from the 4-series lecture I conducted for National University of Singapore (NUS) final-year Pharmacy students.
One of the most emotional moments in the classroom is discussing the "fear of failure." Whether it’s a residency application that didn't go through or a clinical assessment that didn't meet the mark, how we label these moments determines our future resilience.
Here is how we use one simple word to transform a professional "dead-end" into a "work-in-progress."
1: The Hook: The 3-Letter Word for Clinical Success.
2: The "What": Did you fail a mock exam or miss out on a competitive internship? In a high-stakes environment like pharmacy, we often treat "No" as a permanent verdict. But a "No" is rarely the end of the story—unless you let it be.
3: The "How": The secret is linguistic. Add "YET" to every "I can't."
"I can't master this oncology protocol... YET."
"I haven't secured my ideal hospital role... YET."
This simple addition keeps your brain in active learning mode instead of "shut-down mode."
4: The Call to Action: Failure is just data for your next attempt. Follow for Lesson 2: Passion & Purpose, where we align this mindset with your career goals.
What is one thing you haven’t mastered "YET"? Declaring it is the first step to conquering it.
