It’s been almost 2.5 years since Covid happened.
AMC has been tasked to support from the very onset as events unfold.
As early as March 2020, officers were deployed to various shopping malls to monitor crowd flow and provide on time on ground situation reports.
When SG was caught off-guard with mass infection happening at foreign workers dormitories , we launched our security support at Singapore Expo.
Everything happened in a matter of 24 hours, from recruiting officers willing to battle with us , to N95 mask fittings, PPE don n doff procedures as well as navigating through the different zones within the Community Isolation Facility. It was a whirlwind 6 months on the battleground while most of Singapore stayed home.
We then moved on to provide security support at a number of hotels that was turned into Government Quarantine Facility, Swap Dedicated Facility and also Community Care Facility.
We were amazed at how efficient and effective such arrangement was at curbing further widespread of the virus.
Another support we gave was at call centres. This is the backend job where callers are engaged 24 hours to track down close contacts and make necessary arrangements to move personnel to appropriate facilities.
We also had a group of gung-ho male security officers that partner with APOs to do regular patrol at foreign workers dormitories to ensure safe distancing measures are adhered to.
Our Changi International Airport terminals was also closed to public.
Staff were deployed there to facilitate strict access control.
It was quite a battle and we are very glad to be given the opportunity to be a part of the task force.
Singapore did well and we extend our appreciation to all officers who had worked tirelessly in full PPE at times, to bring the Covid ops to a good completion.
