Today on World Environment Day we join the global movement to protect and restore the planet we call home. This year’s theme Our Land Our Future We are highlights the urgent need to restore our land combat desertification and build resilience for future generations.
At Textile Waste Salone we believe that change begins with how we treat what we wear. Each year tons of clothing are discarded polluting our land and water and contributing to climate change. In Sierra Leone the challenge is even greater as textile waste piles up with limited systems in place to manage it.
Our work is focused on giving old clothes a second life. We collect and shred textile waste turning it into useful products and creating new opportunities for local communities. It’s about reducing waste supporting livelihoods and protecting the environment.
On this World Environment Day we urge everyone to
• Rethink how we consume fashion
• Support local recycling efforts
• Push for sustainable solutions
