Repeated failed rainy seasons have led to livestock deaths, crop failure, displacement, and rising malnutrition among children. Urgent and coordinated action is needed to strengthen water infrastructure, support climate-resilient livelihoods, and enhance community preparedness.

There are many ways to kill a rat. Some people may burn down the house, use bait traps, glue traps, or poison.

The worst method is burning the house because it causes great loss of property and harm. Destroying everything just to solve one small problem is not wise.

In Somalia, some people believe that killing is the ultimate solution to every conflict, but this is wrong. Problems can be solved peacefully through negotiation, dialogue, sharing resources fairly, and sincerely practicing the teachings of Islam.

We should be kind to one another, help each other, and choose peaceful solutions instead of destruction. A community that supports, respects, and understands each other can live in harmony and stability.

Types of Xeer in Somalia

Xeer is Somalia’s traditional customary law used to manage social relations and resolve conflicts. It includes:

1. Xeer Dhaqan – Social and cultural norms governing behavior, marriage, and community values.

2. Xeer Ciqaab – Compensation and punishment rules, including diya (blood compensation).

3. Xeer Beeleed – Agreements between clans on peace, grazing, and water sharing.

4. Xeer Maamul – Community leadership and local governance rules.

5. Xeer Dhul & Xoolo – Land, grazing, and livestock rights.

6. Xeer Guur – Marriage and family-related agreements.

Overall, Xeer is community-based, negotiated by elders, and focuses on maintaining peace and social harmony.
