Grateful to have been invited into a room filled with business owners, investors, and changemakers who are committed to creating real community impact in New Orleans.

It was more than just a networking event — it was a strategic space where ideas, partnerships, and opportunities for social change came together. Conversations like these remind me how powerful collaboration can be when people align around purpose and impact.

Thank you to the Youth Empowerment Project for hosting and creating spaces that connect leaders who are building stronger communities and investing in the future. Excited for the connections made and what’s ahead. ✨

During the opening orientation of the YLAI Fellowship Program, I attended a powerful session by Rita Mounir on building secure, scalable products.

I had the chance to ask a question about how partnerships can help scale products—and one key takeaway stuck with me: growth isn’t just about technology, it’s about the right collaborations.

Grateful for the insights and conversations that push you to think bigger 🚀

In a venue with 200+ professionals from different countries, I was looking for a simple way to connect with people.

I tried a small, intentional approach—and it helped start conversations more easily. A few people even asked if it was something provided by the organization. I told them I had put it together myself, which led to some nice feedback and discussions around the idea.

It turned out to be a useful way to stand out a bit and make interactions more natural.

Sometimes it’s not just about doing more, but about being thoughtful in how you show up.

Our first Opening Orientation Day at YLAI 2026 was truly inspiring.

I had the opportunity to connect with passionate and driven young leaders from across the world, which in itself was incredibly energizing. One of the highlights for me was the keynote by Angel Cornelius, Founder & CEO of Maison 276.

Her journey was powerful. Imagine being rejected 800 times by Walmart—and still not giving up. Eventually, she secured the deal. That level of persistence is something I’ll carry with me.

My key takeaways:
Rejection should never stop you from trying.
And just as important—surround yourself with the right people who push you forward.

This is only the beginning, and I’m already learning so much.

I’m honored to be selected as one of 250 entrepreneurs from Latin America and the Caribbean for the prestigious Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative, an initiative by the U.S. Department of State.

As part of this journey, I am completing my professional placement in New Orleans with the Youth Empowerment Project, focusing on scaling and expansion strategies.

Through this experience, I am strengthening my leadership and business management skills through intensive entrepreneurship training, while collaborating with U.S. counterparts to further develop and scale my venture, Youth Association Suriname.

At the same time, I am expanding my international network through meaningful connections, networking events, and professional development opportunities.

Grateful for this experience and excited to apply these insights to continue building impact in Suriname and beyond.
