Dear Partners,
You are cordially invited to join us at the « Private Sector Engagement Summit » April 24th and 25th, 2023. This conference
will bring together value chain stakeholders - cooperatives, producer groups, buyers, wholesalers, retailers, trade groups,
producer associations, food processing specialists, agriculture and commercial banks, venture capitalists, investors and young
entrepreneurs - all with the common goal of improving the competitiveness of green value chains across the Great Green Wall
Initiative Member States.
The Summit will consist of several activities, including High-Level panel discussions, B2B symposiums, workshops and
exhibitions. These would enable participants to engage in in-depth business networking, review ready-to-implement projects,
showcase innovative solutions and enterprises, and make diverse business deals.
Crucial themes to explore during the summit include the following:
● Development of a plan to boost market-based approaches in the new Great Green Wall strategy;
● The role of African Union Agenda 2063 flagship programmes and the Africa Continental Free Trade Areas in
mainstreaming agricultural, forest and non-wood product value chains of GGWI communities
● Deploying monitoring and training tools for food service stakeholders in the Great Green Wall;
● Boosting investment & innovative funding sources for value chains and produce grown in the GGW
● Stimulate opportunities for agricultural, forestry & livestock value chains as engines for inclusive growth
● Communications around the Great Green Wall Initiative and the Fourth Industrial Revolution: The place
of science, research and technology for sustainable land management and conservation
● Other activities will include project proposal review, discussion of partners guidelines, market contracts
development, and matchmaking for mature projects with specific financial sources.
