Meet the musicians

Volodymyr Bykhun is a Ukrainian trumpet player from Severodonetsk, who began studying trumpet at the age of five under the guidance of Yuri Holovin and Sergei Bykhun. He is currently pursuing his studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London, having previously graduated from the Severodonetsk Music College and the Lviv National Music Academy.

During his second year of college, Volodymyr began his professional career with the Luhansk Philharmonic Orchestra. He later continued his education in Lviv, where, following a successful audition, he joined the Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra. At the same time, he was appointed Principal Trumpet of the Youth Orchestra of Ukraine. Through these ensembles, Volodymyr toured extensively, performing in many of the world’s leading concert halls, including the Berlin Philharmonie, Leipzig Gewandhaus, and the Bavarian State Opera.

In addition to his orchestral work, Volodymyr is passionate about chamber music. In Ukraine, he performed with the Lviv Brass Quintet. Now based in London, he is a member of the trumpet ensemble FiveBy5, with whom he regularly performs at concerts and festivals across the UK and Europe. The ensemble collaborates with contemporary composers from around the world, commissioning and premiering new works for trumpet quintet.

Volodymyr is deeply committed to the development of his chamber music career and sees great potential in the growth of FiveBy5. Looking ahead, he plans to pursue a master’s degree at the Royal Academy of Music while actively auditioning for orchestral positions across Europe.

7. Ivanna Oliinyk (cello) was born in 2006 in Lviv, Ukraine. She began learning cello at the age of
6 with Nadia Kvyk entering the specialist music school in Lviv. During her studies she has taken part in many competition and festivals. She studied in Poland in 2022 before moving to the UK. When Ivanna arrived to England she was accepted into National Youth Orchestra, Royal Academy Junior Department and The Purcell School Of Music, where she was supported by the Government's Music and Dance Scheme in the class of Pal Banda. In 2023 she took part in the Concertgebouw Young programme. She has performed in renowned halls such as Royal Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall, Concertgebouw, Berlin Konzerthaus, Lviv Philharmonie and many more. She has received the masterclasses from Denis Severin, Raphael Pidoux, Chu
Yi-Bing, Bruno Schrecker.
Ivanna is now a first year student studying at the Royal Academy of Music with Christoph Richter.

Meet the musicians

Vladyslav Kurilets is a Ukrainian bassoonist currently pursuing his studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London under the guidance of Robin O’Neill. Born in Ivano-Frankivsk, he began his musical education at the age of 10 at the Denis Sichynsky Music College, later continuing at the Reinhold Glier Kyiv Municipal College and the Lviv National Music Academy.

A laureate of multiple national and international competitions, Vladyslav has been recognized at events such as Spring Symphony (Czech Republic), Razzonto di Primavera (Italy), and the All-Ukrainian Wind Competition named after Vyacheslav Starchenko. He also participated in the prestigious 9th International Bassoon Competition “Gioachino Rossini” in Pesaro, Italy.

As an active orchestral performer, Vladyslav has collaborated with the Lviv Organ Hall Symphony Orchestra and toured the United Kingdom in operatic productions including Tosca, Madama Butterfly, and Carmen. He is currently a member of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine and, in 2023, took part in the Young Euro Classic Chamber Music Academy in Berlin.

While at the Royal Academy of Music, he has performed under the batons of distinguished conductors such as Semyon Bychkov, Sir Mark Elder, Roderick Cox, and Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider. Vladyslav has also enriched his artistry through masterclasses with renowned bassoonists including Laurent Lefevre, Joost Bosdijk, Nikolaj Henriques, and Julia Price.

Meet the Musician
**Dmytro Fonariuk**

Dmytro is a Ukrainian clarinetist based in London, holding a Master’s degree from the **Royal Academy of Music (2024)**. His training includes studies at the **National Music Academy of Ukraine (Kyiv, 2021)** and the **R.M. Glier Municipal Music Academy (Kyiv, 2014)**.

An accomplished orchestral and chamber musician, Dmytro has performed with ensembles such as the **Symphony Orchestra of the Royal Academy of Music**, **I, Culture Orchestra (Poland)**, **Moldovan National Youth Orchestra**, and **Kyivska Kamerata** (National Ensemble of Soloists, 2019–2022). He has collaborated with distinguished conductors, including **Barbara Hannigan**, **Semyon Bychkov**, **Andrey Boreiko**, and **Volodymyr Sirenko**, and has participated in festivals such as **Music in Alps (Austria)**.

As a freelancer, Dmytro performs with the **Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra**, **Reform Club Orchestra**, **St. James’s Chamber Orchestra**, and **Lihtar Orchestra**. He has refined his artistry in masterclasses with leading clarinetists such as **Anthony McGill**, **Andrew Marriner**, **Patrick Messina**, and **Nicolas Balderou**.

Dmytro is currently open to **collaborations, solo engagements, and orchestral opportunities** across the UK and internationally.

**Yulia Sozanska**

Yulia ia a Ukrainian violinist currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree at the **Royal Academy of Music** in London under a full scholarship, where she studies with Professor **Robin Wilson**, following mentorship from Professor **György Pauk**. Born in **Chernivtsi, Ukraine**, she began her violin studies at the age of five, training at **Chernivtsi Music School No. 1** and the **Chernivtsi College of Arts** before continuing her education in the UK.

An accomplished competition laureate, Yulia has earned top prizes at prestigious events, including:
- **1st Prize & Special Award** – International Competition of Young Musicians (Zagreb)
- **2nd Prize** – Myron Polyakin International Violin Competition
- **3rd Prize** – Bogodar Kotorovych Festival-Competition
- **2nd Prize** – "Lviv Virtuoso"

As a soloist, she has performed concertos by **Bruch, Saint-Saëns, Mendelssohn, Vieuxtemps, Khachaturian, and Sibelius** with the **Chernivtsi Symphony Orchestra**, as well as in venues across **Frankfurt and Düsseldorf**. Passionate about chamber and orchestral music, she regularly performs at international festivals and concerts throughout **Europe**.
