This message is not to put pressure on anyone or increase the pressure on some already, rather it is to give more clarity and ease the burden off people’s minds. In the place of prayer this morning, one thing that dropped in my mind is to pray against two strategies the devil is deploying against the gospel. The first strategy is creating this mind in Christians that having children is a burden and the second is making marriage or getting married a more difficult decision for single Christians.
On the contrary, some other religions are populating the world seriously, irrespective of their social and economic status. These days, young Christian families are having two children or less, if this trend continues, you can think about the population ratio for Christians in the future.
On the issue of getting married, why is it that Christians find it hard to have clarity when it comes to choosing a life partner? Why is it that there are over a million “ifs” and “buts”? I have lived long enough to see a lot of Christians hide under to umbrella of “God’s Will” and refuse to get married. Let me give you a strange stat that I checked this morning, in the UK, over 1000 people die yearly due to road accidents, and over 200 deaths were also recorded due to domestic abuse within a year. In case you didn’t get the point, when last did you fast and pray before travelling on the road? How many days have you stayed in the place of prayer before going on the road? For every one death caused by marriage, five are caused by road transportation. If marriage is as destiny-destroying as single people feel, then I think most married people will be dead.
Although this might read like a flawed argument, let me conclude with this, Chinese and Indians are a force to reckon with globally because they have huge populations. Population plays a key role in key decisions, which is why voting and other key decisions are made based on it. One of our core duties as believers is to marry and have children. A research study in 2014 showed that over 80% of Christians were raised in a family where both parents are Christians.
If you’ve read this to this point, then this is for you. Think about who you can share this with, and what you can do differently henceforth to ensure that the population of Christians in the future are preserved. Jesus said, “When I return, will I find faith”, maybe He was also talking about this literally, when I return, will I find people who are Christians?
