What is your salary expectation?

Please be prepared to answer! A salary commensurate with my skills may not help you get the salary you deserve. Some companies have a limited budget and others may be flexible. This is a negotiation. Your research on the company/position may give insight into whether it is in the high/mid/low compensation bracket.

Compensation includes base salary, cash allowances, bonuses, gratuity, commissions, non-cash benefits. Non-cash benefits include leave, company car or health plan coverage. Non-cash benefits have a cost attached. Work out your annual salary then divide by 12 for a monthly rate. (include cash and non-cash items so you can compare). All companies do not offer the same terms and conditions. You may prefer work-from-home or training options as part of your package. Determine what matters most.

Now that you know your total current package, identify your BATNA (best alternative to a negotiated agreement). Are you willing to wait for a better offer?
