Dry Contact vs. Electric Limit Switch — What’s the Difference?
Electric limit switches control MOTION;
Dry contacts communicate STATUS.

Dry Contact: The "Messenger"
A dry contact is not a sensor. It is a voltage-free output (typically a relay contact) that simply opens or closes to report a status.
--No internal voltage supplied: It’s a "clean" switch.
--Signal only:
Used to report position (Open/Closed) to PLCs or DCS.
--Interface role:
It acts as a bridge between the actuator and your control room.
--Function: Valve feedback signal (e.g., "I am closed!").

Electric Limit Switch: The "Controller"
This is the internal brain or mechanism that manages the actuator's physical travel.
--Motion Control: It determines the exact end positions (0° to 90°).
--Motor Protection:
It cuts power to the motor at preset limits to prevent over-travel.
--Technology:
Can be traditional mechanical cams or modern electronic sensors.
--Function: Ensuring the actuator stops precisely at the right angle.

Techinically, with different acting structure, material of valve body, and material of sealing parts, solenoid valves can apply to a variety of fluid. However, coil is the component where energy and operation exactly conduct during usage. There are at least four different kinds of type to let the valve adopt to any of the surroundings. To clarify their function and characteristics, we are about the point that out in the following content.

1. Iron Case Coil (2-wire)
It is the universal type of coil to match most of the models of our solenoid valve. It can meet the requirements of most of the conditions. However, if you need something about water proofness, you might find the following options for your specific solution.

2. Waterproof Coil (2-wire / DIN PLUG)
Waterproof coil comes with two types. One is with 2-wire and the other is with DIN PLUG. It offers different kinds of wiring to meet our clients’ demands. However, for outdoor use, please make sure you make a protective cover to keep from direct sunlight and long-last rainfall.

3. NASS DIN Coil (IP65)
Waterproof coil (NASS DIN) made in Germany supplies the advanced water proofness prior to the one we introduced previously, and it is certified as IP65.

4. NASS Explosionproof Coil (IP67)
If you need to use solenoid valve in an explosive atmosphere and hazardous surroundings, explosionproof coil supplied by nass magnet is definitely a wise choice.

Beyond Valves: What else can you automate with Electric Actuators?

In the world of industrial automation, most professionals immediately think of valves when they hear "Electric Actuator." While valve control is a cornerstone of the industry, the "versatility" of these devices goes much further!

Beyond standard fluid control, electric actuators serve as the silent workhorses behind a wide array of critical industrial equipment. Here are some key non-valve applications:

Here’s how we use them to drive efficiency beyond fluid control:
-- HVAC & Ventilation: Precision control for Dampers and Louvers.
-- Water Management: Reliable operation of Sluice Gates and Penstocks.
-- Logistics: Sorting and routing via Conveyor Deflectors.
-- Bulk Handling: Dosing materials through Hopper and Chute Gates.
-- Renewables: Enhancing Solar Tracking systems.

The Edge: Electric systems provide better positioning accuracy, lower maintenance, and seamless digital feedback compared to traditional pneumatics.

-- Question: There is an electric actuator connecting to a valve, do you know which photo?

Important~~Intermittent Duty Solenoid

In many industrial and automation applications, solenoids don't operate continuously. Instead, they activate briefly and rest for longer periods. For these scenarios, Intermittent Duty Solenoids are the ideal solution—offering strong, rapid actuation with a specific thermal limitation that engineers must respect.

Key Characteristics of Intermittent Duty Solenoids

1. High Peak Force (Instantaneous Magnetic Force)
Intermittent-duty coils are built to handle higher current density for short periods. This allows them to generate faster and more powerful actuation than continuous-duty designs.

2. Strict Thermal Constraints
Thermal limits are the most important factor in using an intermittent-duty solenoid. The coil insulation can only withstand high temperatures briefly. If the energization time exceeds the specified ED (Energized Duty) rating, heat rises quickly and may cause:

💣 Coil Burnout – Insulation melts or carbonizes, leading to short circuits.
💣 Reduced Reliability – Even without immediate failure, repeated overheating significantly shortens service life.

📢 Why This Matters
Selecting the wrong duty type—or exceeding the ED rating—can cause premature failures, unplanned downtime, and higher maintenance costs. Understanding how intermittent-duty designs work helps ensure safe and reliable operation.

How Does a Solenoid Valve Work?

In many industrial systems — from water treatment to HVAC and automation — solenoid valves play a key role in controlling fluid flow with precision and reliability.

A solenoid valve converts electrical energy into mechanical motion.
When an electric current passes through the coil, it generates a magnetic field that pulls a small metal plunger upward. This simple action opens the valve, allowing liquid or gas to flow.

When the current stops, the magnetic field disappears, and a spring pushes the plunger back, closing the valve and stopping the flow.

In short:
💡 Electricity → 🔁 Magnetic Force → ⚙️ Valve Operation → 🌊 Flow Control
Compact, fast, and highly reliable, solenoid valves are widely used wherever automation and precise control are needed.

How a 5-Way Motorized Valve Works in a Sand Filter System?

In water treatment, sand filter systems play a key role in producing clean and safe water by removing suspended solids and impurities. A critical component that makes these systems efficient is the 5-way motorized valve.

Unlike traditional manual valves, the 5-way motorized valve automates water flow control inside the system. With just one valve, it can switch between multiple operations:

--Filtration – Raw water flows through the sand bed, producing clean water.
--Backwash – Flow reverses to flush out trapped particles from the filter media.
--Rinse – Cleans residual dirt after backwash before returning to filtration.
--Drain/Bypass – Isolates tanks for maintenance or directs water to drain.
--Circulation – Balances system flow when filtration isn’t required.

By automating these processes, the 5-way motorized valve ensures:
Greater efficiency (automatic cycle changes)
Better reliability (consistent water quality)

Simplified operation & piping (replacing multiple manual valves)
As shown in the diagram below, these valves are installed at each filter tank, making the system smarter and easier to maintain.

The 5-way motorized valve is the heart of automation in a sand filter system.

How can control valves be used in the HVAC industry?

1. Regulating Flow in Chilled Water & Hot Water Systems
In central HVAC systems, chilled water (for cooling) or hot water (for heating) circulates through coils in air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), or other terminal devices.
A control valve adjusts the amount of water flowing into these coils, thus controlling the heat exchange and regulating room temperature precisely. This can be done via two-way (modulates flow) or three-way (bypasses flow) valves.

2. Controlling Steam for Heating
In some industrial HVAC systems (especially older ones or large facilities), steam is used for heating coils or humidification.
A control valve regulates steam pressure and flow to prevent overheating and maintain desired temperatures.

3. Special Industrial HVAC Applications
--Cleanrooms: Control valves help maintain strict temperature and humidity ranges.
--Data centers: Precise chilled water control prevents overheating of server racks.
--Manufacturing processes: Where HVAC doubles as process cooling/heating, valves control temperature-critical production environments.
