The Bureau for Industrial Cooperation (BICO) is a consulting firm based at the College of Engineering and Technology (CoET), University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), Tanzania. BICO is essentially a non-profit making Consultancy Organisation. BICO boasts of a pool of well trained staff with vast experience. The Bureau for Industrial Cooperation (BICO) was therefore established
in July 1990 with the aim of coordinating the use of the Faculty expertise and other resources to contribute effectively to the industrial and socio-economic development of Tanzania. BICO is essential a non profit making consultancy organization which is registered with the Engineer’s Registration Board (ERB) of Tanzania. Following the disestablishment of the then Faculty of Engineering (FoE) and the then Institute of Production Innovation (IPI) with the subsequent establishment of CoET, BICO has been upgraded correspondingly. CoET currently consists of 6 Academic Departments which are; Chemical and Mining Engineering (CME), Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE), Structural and Construction Engineering (SCE), Transportation and Geo technical Engineering (TGE) and Water resources Engineering (WRE). These together with the Technology Development and Transfer Centre (TDTC) and BICO form the College of Engineering and Technology (CoET). The University Council formally proclaimed CoET as a semi-autonomous Campus College on 29th September 2005 following enaction of the Universities Act by the Parliament and gazetting of the same in September 2005.
