Are you ready to change the conversation on climate justice in Africa? Africa No Filter is looking for journalists, content creators, podcasters, vloggers, muralists, data visualizers from Mozambique, Uganda, Nigeria, Angola, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Tanzania, South Sudan, Malawi, and Zambia to take part in the Voices for Climate Justice initiative.

The 12-month program is delivered in partnership with Comic Relief, will support 15–20 storytellers with training, mentorship, content amplification and grants of up to US$4,000 to create powerful stories that spark public conversation and inspire action.

We’re looking for creative ideas that can help explain how climate change, debt, gender, and fossil fuels affect people and communities across Africa; whether you tell stories through video, podcasts, articles, murals, data visualization, we want to hear from you. Selected storytellers will receive training in climate justice, data storytelling, and narrative framing before working with researchers and partners to develop accurate, engaging stories based on research.

Applications and content may be produced in English and French.

Deadline: 25 September 2026

At first, I believed it would simply be another health article, a straightforward piece explaining how families can better care for children living with sickle cell disease. Nothing more.

I was wrong.

What started as an ordinary health feature became a story that educated families, challenged harmful beliefs, and gave hope to parents who had almost lost it.

On August 7, 2026, our residents under the Nukta Lab Graduate Residency Program, Deusdedith Kakorozya, Jonas Remmy, and Method Allen, represented Nukta Africa at the Elezea Jam Session, hosted by Ona Stories in Dar es Salaam.

Over two years, Elezea has been exploring how ordinary Tanzanians can tell their own stories through creative storytelling, participatory methods, AI, and civic innovation. And we were there to learn, share, and connect.

From hands-on frameworks to thought-provoking conversations with artists, researchers, and change makers, it was a powerful reminder that storytelling is not just about what we report, but how we empower others to speak.

At Nukta Africa, we believe in amplifying voices that matter. This session reaffirmed that mission and sparked new ideas for collaborations ahead.

Grateful to the Elezea team and Ona Stories for the invitation, the warmth, and the vision.
