Saturday Uhurulabs participated in the first LEXIS Kindergarten NEXT LEVEL Future Skills Workshop and Zero Waste fair and all the children loved it! . They got a chance to try out virtual reality glasses when flying a drone and asked lots of questions about all the different drones which were showcased.
It is often a controversial topic - children and technology. Fact is though that technology is part of our lives in so many ways and the exposure to it is always increasing. Which is why it is also necessary to look at the benefits of technology for kids. One important aspect is e.g that technology improves problem solving and perseverance.

'With technology comes freedom of expression, and with such freedom comes the chance for kids to independently set out and achieve something, largely on their own. In doing so, they face roadblocks and challenges that must be cleared if they’re to reach their goals, so they learn how to deal with such hurdles. '

We are looking to many more events at Lexis Kindergarten and creative ways to work together.

We also are partners of the African Drone Forum which is a symposium/expo/flying competition held in February in 2020.

Problem... UAV data has been collected over a large area +1,500 sq/km. The UAV's used were small and as such the area was divided into 200+ zones each of which were then processed into individual Geotiffs. The data was collected without absolute accuracy and as so although the data within a given zone is relatively accurate there are varying degrees of edge matching issues when attempting to put all 200+ zones together.
